On Wednesday 21 February, the General Court of the European Union ruled that the identification of certain risks associated with the use of insecticides does not preclude the renewal of an active substance’s approval. In a judgment dismissing the action brought by the NGO PAN Europe, the General Court took the view that the European Commission, in its capacity as a risk manager, can impose mitigation measures to reduce risks to an acceptable level (Case T-536/22).
