On Wednesday 21 February, the European Commission launched Communities for Climate (C4C), a pilot project designed to stimulate and support 50 local environmental initiatives across Europe. The aim is to encourage concrete action in the fight against climate change.
The C4C programme targets key areas such as the restoration of biodiversity, water management, the development of the circular economy and the adoption of renewable energy, in both urban and rural areas. The aim is to create innovative local examples that can be replicated across Europe.
The selected projects will benefit from expert support, including training, peer exchanges, personalised study visits, mentoring and coaching. They will also receive advice on how to boost their impact and visibility at local, national and European level.
Applications are open to communities in all 11 participating EU countries, with a preference for projects promoting cross-border cooperation. The eligible countries are Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Spain and Sweden.
The call for projects is open from 21 February to 3 April 2024.
An informational webinar is scheduled for 29 February: https://aeur.eu/f/axr (Original version in French by Nithya Paquiry)
