04/01/24 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 4 January, on behalf of the EU, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, condemned “in the strongest terms” the bomb attack carried out the previous day in the Iranian city of Kerman. “This shocking act of terror has cost the lives of innocent civilians, with many injured”, he stressed in a joint statement. Mr Borrell expressed the EU’s solidarity with the Iranian people and said that the thoughts of Europeans were with the victims and their families. At least 84 people were killed and 284 injured in a double explosion during a commemoration near the tomb of General Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in early January 2020 by an American drone strike in Iraq.
