04/01/2024 (Agence Europe) – Twenty-four organisations active in development cooperation and humanitarian aid have called on the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union to increase the funds allocated to the external dimension of EU migration policy. In a press release published on Thursday 4 January, organisations such as Act Alliance EU, CONCORD Europe, Caritas Europa and Oxfam stress the “urgent” need to adapt the multiannual financial framework (MFF) so that the EU can ensure its “credibility” on the international stage. They consider that “the pace of global needs has outpaced the level of funds in the MFF” and deplore the “largely depleted” resources of the NDICI-Global Europe instrument. At the end of December, at the European Council, 26 EU countries were in favour of an additional €7.6 billion for the ‘neighbourhood and world’ heading of the MFF (see EUROPE 13315/1). (BD)
