28/11/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 27 November, the European Commissioner for Research and Innovation, Iliana Ivanova, presented the European Innovation Capital Awards or iCapital (see EUROPE 13266/31). The awards are supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC) under Horizon Europe. They reward cities with inclusive innovation ecosystems. This year’s winner in the main category is Lisbon, which will receive €1,000,000. Warsaw, in Poland, is first runner-up in this category and Lviv, in Ukraine, is second runner-up. They will each receive €100,000. Linköping, in Sweden, won first prize in the ‘European Rising Innovative city’ category and will receive €500,000.
