28/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 November, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, welcomed “the two-day extension of the pause in hostilities between Israel and Hamas”. This is a “welcome development”, according to Mr Michel, who felt that everything must be done to preserve and protect the lives of civilians, always and everywhere. For Ms von der Leyen, “the agreement extends this window of hope, allowing more civilians in Gaza to have access to essential aid”. She also called on the “Hamas terrorists to release all the hostages taken during their horrific attack on 7 October”. Both thanked those who had made the new agreement possible. (CG)
