28/11/23 (Agence Europe) – The members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) will finally vote on the legislation concerning the European Digital Identity Wallet (EiD) wallet on 7 December. Negotiators from the EU Council and the European Parliament reached a provisional political agreement on the dossier on 8 November (see EUROPE 13288/12). The vote by MEPs in the European Parliament committee was originally due to take place on 28 November, but had to be postponed. “We still need to clarify certain technical points concerning the interpretation of the EU Council’s version”, explained Marian-Jean Marinescu (EPP, Romanian). “I was expecting a final vote today, but due to some procedural errors, we are postponing the vote until December”, added Romana Jerković (S&D, Croatian).
