European Parliament political groups clash over Spanish amnesty law for Catalan independentists

As expected, on Wednesday 22 November MEPs held a highly political and virulent discussion on the pact concluded between Pedro Sánchez’s government and the Catalan separatists movement on the subject of the amnesty law enabling Pedro Sánchez to remain in power following the legislative elections on 23 July.

The EPP, Renew Europe, but also the ECR Group have criticised the agreement, while the Socialists and Democrats have countered by referring to the EPP’s equally unsavoury...
