22/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 22 November, the European Parliament approved the extension of Belgian candidate Annemie Turtelboom’s term of office at the Court of Auditors for a further six years (550 votes in favour, 43 against and 39 abstentions), as well as Finland’s nomination of current Finnish MEP Petri Sarvamaa as a candidate (528 votes in favour, 62 against and 39 abstentions). Ms Turtelboom is currently Dean of Chamber II of the European Court of Auditors, of which she has been a member since 2018, having previously been a minister in the Belgian government and a member of the Belgian federal parliament. Mr Sarvamaa is currently a member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) and has been since 2012. Both applications have been approved by the Committee on Budgetary Control, and the EU Member States will make the final decision. (PLD)
