European Parliament, European Commission, and ENISA conduct joint exercise to prepare for cybersecurity incidents that could affect European elections

21/11/23 (Agence Europe)On Tuesday, 21 November, the European Parliament’s services, the European Commission, and the EU Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) organised a cybersecurity exercise, held at the European Parliament, that aimed to test their crisis plans and possible responses to potential cybersecurity incidents affecting the upcoming 2024 European elections. The exercise emphasised deepening knowledge of critical aspects as well as strengthening cooperation among the national authorities responsible for the proper conduct of elections, those responsible for data protection, and the Commission services. It also provided an opportunity to verify Member States’ capacity to assess risks, test existing crisis management plans, and identify potential gaps. “The upcoming European elections will be an important test that we must not fail,” commented Vice-President for Values and Transparency Věra Jourová.
