European Commission unveils Member States’ interim gas storage targets for 2024

21/11/23 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 20 November, the European Commission unveiled the gas storage filling targets for EU Member States to reach 90% capacity by 1 November 2024, in accordance with the EU Gas Storage Regulation (EU/2022/1032). Intermediate targets are set for EU countries with underground storage and those connected to their markets. These targets guarantee security of supply for the winter of 2023-2024 by ensuring additional availability of gas for heating and by responding to unforeseen demand or disruptions. This year, the EU’s gas storage facilities were 100% full by 1 November 2023, exceeding the 90% target (see EUROPE 13284/10). To see the intermediate targets: https://aeur.eu/f/9n5 (PLD)
