21/11/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday, 21 November, the Council of the EU adopted conclusions on the triple “social, green and digital transition”, reaffirming the EU and its Member States’ commitment to the UN’s 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on this occasion. The EU Council stresses that the increasing levels of poverty and inequality within and among countries, under the combined impact of multiple crises, pose a threat to sustainable development and recommends promoting “a strong and positive social agenda” in cooperation with partner developing countries. It also emphasises that the triple transition should foster the structural changes needed to achieve the SDGs as well as the objectives of the Paris Agreement on climate change and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
