10/11/2023 (Agence Europe) – To strengthen cooperation in the fight against organised crime groups, Eurojust signed a working agreement with the Nigerian Attorney General, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, on Thursday 9 November. This agreement, the first of its kind with a sub-Saharan African country, provides for the creation of a contact point for Eurojust in Nigeria, facilitating faster and more structured judicial cooperation between this country and the Member States. It was signed during a conference on transnational crime - organised in The Hague, on the premises of the European Agency for Justice Cooperation - attended by representatives from eight West African countries and most of the national authorities represented at Eurojust. The agreement, which came into force immediately, includes provisions on data protection and the exchange of strategic information. (NP)
