Renewable Energy Directive published in Official Journal of EU

31/10/23 (Agence Europe) – The Renewable Energy Directive was published in the Official Journal of the EU on Tuesday 31 October. The EU Council came out in favour of revising the directive on 9 September (see EUROPE 13267/30). This revision aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 42.5% of the EU’s overall energy consumption by 2030, up from the current 32%, with an indicative top-up of 2.5% to reach 45% (see EUROPE 13153/1; 13204/3). The directive will come into force within 20 days of publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
