29/09/23 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 28 September in Brussels, the EU High Representative, Josep Borrell, and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Abdoulaye Bathily, reiterated the commitment of the EU and the UN to working together towards a lasting political solution in Libya, “based on an inclusive inter-Libyan dialogue”. According to a press release from the European External Action Service, they discussed how to coordinate and strengthen political efforts to support the path towards peace and stability in Libya. Mr Borrell also reaffirmed the EU’s “determined and unwavering” support for the facilitation initiative led by Mr Bathily. The two political leaders also discussed the consequences of Storm Daniel, stressing the importance of continuing to help all Libyans in these difficult circumstances. (CG)
