European Council to ask for reform of Stability and Growth Pact to be completed “in 2023”

On Friday 30 June, European leaders will call on the Council of the European Union to complete legislative work on reforming the European economic governance framework “in 2023”.

However, they will not be discussing the reform of the Stability and Growth Pact or the Commission’s proposal to revise the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework, because “it’s too early”, said a European diplomatic source on Wednesday 28 June.
