17/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Commission adopted on Wednesday 17 May a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for structured regulatory cooperation in the field of financial services with the UK. Once signed by both parties, this MoU should create an administrative framework for voluntary regulatory cooperation in financial services between the two parties, outside the structures of the Transatlantic Trade Agreement. A joint EU/UK forum should also be established. It will act as a platform to facilitate a structured dialogue on financial services issues. “I am confident that our relationship and future engagement in financial services will be based on a shared commitment to safeguarding financial stability, market integrity and consumer and investor protection”, commented Financial Services Commissioner Mairead McGuinness.
