15/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has decided to extend two contribution periods on patents. They concern three proposals for regulations published on 27 April (see EUROPE 13171/1) on standard-essential patents (SEP) and on supplementary protection certificates (SPC) for medicinal and plant protection products. The Commission intends to present the responses to the consultation to the co-legislators as input to the debate in the coming months. Some stakeholders had regretted that the Commission had not taken into account the contributions previously sent, in particular on patents essential to a standard.
