04/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – In a report published on 24 April, the European Commission considers it necessary for all its powers to adopt delegated acts laid down in the Renewable Energy Directive ((EU) 2018/2001) to be prolonged beyond the current five-year period, given that the delegated acts for which the European Commission has received a referral of power have not all been adopted at this point. The latest ones notably concern renewable fuels of non-biological origin and were adopted on 10 February (see EUROPE 13120/6), but they have not yet entered into force. Also being prepared are another two acts on reviewing criteria for biofuels with a high risk of indirect land-use change (‘ILUC’) and on adding feedstock that can only be processed with advanced technologies, respectively.
