19/04/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 17 April, the Committee on Budgets approved by 36 votes in favour, 1 against and no abstentions the draft report by rapporteur Eider Gardiazabal Rubial (S&D, Spanish) recommending that the European Parliament approve Spain’s request for aid from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) for Displaced Workers. A total of 303 former employees of the aluminium producer Alu Ibérica in the Galicia region of Spain should therefore receive €1.2 million of EU aid following the company’s bankruptcy. The funding will help former employees to find a new job through, among other things, information services, preparatory workshops or career guidance. The draft report must now be approved in the Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg in May. You can read the report here: https://aeur.eu/f/6e3 (PLD)
