13/04/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament’s new permanent Subcommittee on Public Health, SANT, will hold its first working meeting in Strasbourg on Thursday, 20 April, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in the margins of the European Parliament’s plenary session (see EUROPE 13148/17). SANT was created on 14 February (see EUROPE 13121/16). It will not have legislative powers and will report to the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) as its main committee. SANT has 30 members, appointed on 15 March from among the MEPs who are members of ENVI (see EUROPE 13142/11). Bartosz Arlukowicz (EPP, Polish) was elected chair of SANT by acclamation on 23 March during the subcommittee’s constitutive meeting. Four vice-chairs were elected on the same day (see EUROPE 13148/17). The meeting is expected to be attended by European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides. (EV)
