13/04/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the European Union added, on Thursday 13 April, the Wagner Group and the RIA FAN agency to the list of persons sanctioned for undermining the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. This decision complements previous EU sanctions (asset freeze and territorial ban) adopted at the end of February against the Wagner Group, a Russian private military entity financed by Yevgeniy Prigozhin (see EUROPE 13130/14), under the EU’s human rights sanctions regime. Involved in pro-government propaganda about Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, RIA FAN is part of the Patriot Media Group, a Russian media organisation whose board of trustees is headed by Mr Prigozhin, the EU Council said.
