12/04/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) has approved the inclusion of Norway in the European electricity capacity calculation areas, it said in a statement on Wednesday 11 April. This approval follows a proposal from the Transmission System Operators (TSOs) on 13 October 2022, after the Capacity Allocation and Congestion Management Regulation (CACM) became binding on Norway in 2021. Before approving this proposal, ACER assessed whether “the changes would contribute to market integration, non-discrimination, effective competition and the proper functioning of the EU electricity market”. At the same time, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Surveillance Authority is due to submit its assessment. To see the ACER press release: https://aeur.eu/f/69y (PLD)
