05/04/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European People’s Party confirmed on Tuesday 4 April that Belgian and German police had searched its Brussels headquarters in connection with an ongoing investigation in the German State of Thuringia. The Party assured that it was acting “in full transparency with the authorities involved, providing all relevant information and documentation”, in a statement. According to the German press, the ongoing investigation is targeting the leader of the opposition in this State, Mario Voigt, who is suspected of having received money in the form of a subcontracting contract that the EPP awarded to a Thuringian company in the digital sector during the campaign for the 2019 European elections.
