29/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said, on Wednesday 29 March, that the Data Analysis and Real-World Interrogation Network, DARWIN EU®, one year after its establishment, had initiated its first four studies supported by real-world data (RWD). DARWIN EU® was set up to generate real-world data to support the decisions of national competent authorities and EMA’s scientific committees. During this year of activity, the DARWIN EU® platform welcomed its first ten data partners. The platform is now launching an Open Call for ten additional data partners. It hopes to initiate around 16 RWD studies in 2023. DARWIN EU® is expected to be fully operational by 2025 and aims to conduct around 150 RWD studies per year.
