29/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Wednesday 29 March that it had approved the addition of two new protected geographical indications (PGIs). This is ‘Kangra tea’, a type of tea grown in India’s Kangra Valley. ‘Kangra tea’ is produced in several areas located on the slopes of the Dhauladhar mountain range in the Western Himalayas. ‘Komiški rogač’is the fruit of the carob tree Komiški krupni, grown exclusively on the territory of the island of Vis, in Croatia. ‘Komiški rogač’ is particularly popular in sweet preparations and is an ingredient used in many preparations, such as creams, cakes and sweet drinks. These new names will be added to the list of 1,619 agricultural products already protected at EU level. (LC)
