29/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 29 March, the European Banking Authority (EBA) launched a consultation on amendments to the risk-based AML/CFT supervisory guidelines relating to monitoring the fight against risk-based anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing supervision, to include crypto-asset service providers. Given that the provision of crypto-asset services is a cross-border activity, the EBA believes it is important that the same standards apply throughout the single market. The amendments include guidance on the sources of information that competent authorities should take into account when assessing money laundering and terrorist financing risks. They also stress the importance of a consistent approach to supervision between competent authorities and emphasise the importance of staff training. The consultation will be open until Thursday 29 June. For more information: https://aeur.eu/f/63n (AD)
