21/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – Public Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides has reaffirmed that, in June, the European Commission will present an integrated approach to mental health to support action by Member States (see EUROPE 13021/14, 13127/10). On Tuesday 21 March, the Commissioner attended a mental health event organised in the European Parliament with the Coalition for Mental Health and Wellbeing and the MEP Alliance for Mental Health. It was co-hosted by Tomáš Zdechovský (EPP, Czech) and Cyrus Engerer (S&D, Maltese), and also attended by the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister, Petra de Sutter. The Commissioner pointed out that the consultation on mental health completed on 15 February had received 313 contributions, including requests for prevention and better access to care. The Commissioner called for targeted and achievable actions, and announced that a new webinar on the subject had been scheduled for 21 April. (EV)
