Brussels, 21/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The energy section of the provisional agenda for the European Council on 23 and 24 March will deal with the preparation and planning for the next gas and heating stockpiling seasons. The European Council therefore encourages all stakeholders to make use of the AggregateEU mechanism via the EU Energy Platform (see EUROPE 13133/9). It then calls on the Commission to finalise the evaluation of the emergency measures adopted in 2022 and, if necessary, to consider their extension, as for the coordinated reduction of gas demand (see EUROPE 13145/15). In addition, EU leaders are calling on co-legislators to reach conclusions on legislative proposals to accelerate the energy transition and to take forward work on electricity market reform.
