21/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) adopted its opinion on the Directive to combat violence against women and domestic violence on Tuesday 21 March. The report was tabled by Manon Aubry (The Left, French) and was the subject of 225 amendments (see EUROPE 13095/1). In particular, the adopted text strengthens the provisions on complaints, introducing safeguards to ensure that victims are protected. It also proposes stricter rules on parental custody and accelerated removal orders in cases of violence. Finally, the text insists on the training of the professionals involved (health and legal professionals, etc.) and on raising awareness of domestic violence and violence against women.
