15/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) launched on Wednesday 15 March its coordinated implementation action on the role of Data Protection Officers for 2023, in which 26 data protection authorities from the European Economic Area will participate. These authorities will be responsible for the appointment of Data Protection Officers and their role. As intermediaries between data protection authorities, individuals and the business units of an organisation, DPOs should contribute to compliance with data protection legislation and promote effective protection of data subjects’ rights. They will also be asked about several aspects of their tasks. Depending on the results, the data protection authorities will decide on possible further national monitoring and enforcement measures.
