15/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – An EU/Latin America and Caribbean Digital Alliance was launched on Tuesday 14 March in Bogota to boost digital cooperation between the two regions, the European Commission announced. This project benefits from an initial funding of €145 million from the EU, its Member States and its financial institutions - of which 50 million comes from the EU budget. It is funded under the EU’s Global Gateway strategic investment programme, whose list of priority projects for 2023 was recently approved (see EUROPE 13132/21). Within the framework of this Alliance, a high-level dialogue will be held between the two parties on infrastructure, the regulatory environment, digital skills development, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation, digitisation of public services, as well as Earth observation data and satellite navigation applications and services.
