10/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 9 March, the European Commission opened a consultation period on standard forms to be used for claims for reimbursement and compensation by rail passengers. In specific terms, the European Commission’s initiative aims to create a standard form that will make it easier for rail passengers in the European Union to claim reimbursement or compensation from the relevant railway undertakings in the event of cancellation or delay of a rail service. This would give passengers the right to submit their applications to all EU railway undertakings using a single standard document. There would also be a particular focus on ensuring that this form is provided in a format that is accessible to people with disabilities or reduced mobility.
