10/03/23 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission’s Working Group on Equality and Values in Education has examined different aspects of gender inequality in education, summarised in an issue paper published on Tuesday 7 March. In particular, it calls for research into the impact of dominant masculinity norms on boys’ educational outcomes and for the promotion of gender-neutral career guidance services. Furthermore, it recommends that specialists be used to evaluate gender stereotypes in teaching materials. Finally, it calls for more awareness of gender-based violence in schools, with protection mechanisms for those who report it. The report is part of the framework for achieving the European Education Area by 2025 (see EUROPE 13115/16). To consult it: https://aeur.eu/f/5q9 (HS)
