10/03/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Estonian authorities submitted to the European Commission, on Thursday 9 March, a request for a revision of the national recovery plan, the overall allocation of which has been revised slightly downwards (from 969 to 953 million euros), in the framework of the Next Generation EU European Recovery Plan. Estonia is the first Member State to add a ‘REPowerEU’ chapter (two investments and two reforms) aimed at accelerating the climate transition and strengthening the EU’s independence from Russian hydrocarbons (see EUROPE 13084/15, 13112/2). Estonia’s demands also include new investments to increase energy security and the construction of viaducts for the Rail Baltica rail network. The revision of the plan will be assessed by the Commission before being forwarded to the EU Council for adoption. (MB)
