10/03/23 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the EU approved, on Thursday 9 March, conclusions on Climate and Energy Diplomacy. Faced with the challenges of a triple global crisis involving climate change, pollution and the decline of biodiversity, and the war of aggression against Ukraine, a stronger impetus was given to these two areas of international cooperation. The EU Council reiterated the EU’s willingness to pursue its commitments in partnership with third countries, in order to achieve the objectives set by the Paris Agreement and to help the most vulnerable countries, in particular by developing collective climate financing. Furthermore, the conclusions underline the EU’s determination to work for the acceleration and intensification of a global energy transition that is as fair and inclusive as possible in order to ensure universal access to both energy and food security.
