21/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – The G7 foreign ministers promised on Tuesday 21 February that they would impose additional sanctions on Russia. “We will impose further economic costs on Russia, and on individuals and entities – inside and outside of Russia – that provide political or economic support to these violations of international law”, they said in a joint statement. They also denounced President Putin’s efforts to incorporate the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia into Russia, which “constitute a new low point in Russia’s blatant flouting of international law”. In his State of the Nation speech earlier in the day, Mr Putin claimed that the people of these regions had voted - in last year’s discredited referenda - in favour of being attached to Russia.
