24/01/2023 (Agence Europe) – According to Argentina’s Minister of Economy Sergio Massa, the EU “still needs to clear up some issues”. On Monday, 23 January, he signed a joint statement with his Brazilian counterpart, Fernando Haddad, in which he mentioned the EU-MERCOSUR free trade agreement (FTA). The two ministers are calling on the EU “to remove the barriers” affecting their products in this agreement. “Agreements cannot be advantageous for one party and not the others; otherwise, they are not agreements but constraints”, Mr Massa pointed out. In his opinion, the EU’s common agricultural policy is detrimental to Brazilian and Argentinian producers. (LM)
