14/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – The announcement of the vacancy for the successor of Belgian Christian Archambeau as the head of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) was published in the Official Journal of the EU on Thursday 8 December. The post is foreseen to be filled from 1 October 2023 for a period of five years. At the end of November, EUROPE learned from an internal source that Mr Archambeau would not serve a second term following a decision by the EUIPO Management Board. Andrea Di Carlo, the Office’s Deputy Director, is said to be in line for the job, although Italy’s change of direction with the new far-right government could significantly reduce his chances of getting the role (see EUROPE 13069/37).
