14/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – Following with “serious concern” the developments around the Lachin corridor, the spokesperson of the European External Action Service called on Tuesday 13 December, on behalf of the EU, on the Azerbaijani authorities to ensure freedom and security of movement along the corridor, in accordance with the trilateral statement of 9 November 2020. Since Monday 12 December, this corridor, which links Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh, has been blocked by Azerbaijani activists. “Restrictions to such freedom of movement cause significant distress to the local population and create humanitarian concerns”, the spokesperson lamented. He called for dialogue and consultation between the parties concerned - Azerbaijan and Armenia. The spokesperson also reiterated the EU’s call for restraint, adding that the Union stands ready to contribute to the above efforts. (CG)
