14/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament approved on Wednesday 14 December an aid of more than €720 million from the EU Solidarity Fund (EUSF) for 7 European countries affected by natural disasters in 2021 with 555 votes in favour, 7 against and 4 abstentions. Germany will receive €612 million, Belgium €87.7 million, the Netherlands €4.7 million, Austria €797,520 and Luxembourg €1.8 million to deal with the consequences of the floods. Spain will receive €9.4 million following the volcano eruption in La Palma, while Greece will receive €1.4 million for an earthquake in Crete. Proposed by the European Commission, the aid has already been approved by the EU Member States’ ambassadors (see EUROPE 13057/30) and the EU Council in early November.
