13/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 12 December, Indonesia announced its intention to appeal the World Trade Organization (WTO) ruling in its dispute with the EU over access to raw materials. A few days earlier, a WTO panel ruled in favour of the EU, which had reproached Indonesia regarding export restrictions on certain raw materials (nickel, iron, chromium and others) as well as certain subsidies (see EUROPE 13074/26). It confirmed that both measures were not in conformity with the WTO’s General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT). However, the next part of the procedure is on hold, as the Appellate Body has been blocked for several years. (LM)
