05/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union, Josep Borrell, underlined, on Saturday 3 December, the EU’s concern about the increasing level of violence in the occupied West Bank. “During the last days alone, 10 Palestinians have been killed by the ISF (Israeli Security Forces)”, he said, citing also the “tragic killing” of Ammar Mifleh by an ISF member the previous day in disputed circumstances. “Such unacceptable facts must be investigated and there must be full accountability. Under international law, lethal force is only justified in situations in which there exists a serious and imminent threat to life”, he warned. Since the High Representative’s statement, Israel carried out strikes against Gaza on Saturday night in response to a rocket attack. (CG)
