05/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 5 December, the Eurogroup welcomed the measures taken by Athens since the May 2022 post-programme surveillance report on Greece. Based on the positive assessment of the European Commission, it approves a final tranche of Greek debt measures of around €6 billion (see EUROPE 13068/23). An amount of €644 million will correspond to repayments to Athens of profits made by the European System of Central Banks on the holding of Greek debt (SMP/ANFA operations). An amount of €5.2 billion would correspond to the final removal of the step-up interest margin applied to loans granted in 2012 and due to be repaid by 2049. These decisions bring to an end a process linked to the Greek debt relief initiated in June 2018. See the Eurogroup statement: https://aeur.eu/f/4hn (MB)
