In addition to the TEN-T review and the conclusions on inland waterway transport (see other news), the EU Member States’ transport ministers also took stock, on Monday 5 December, of the development of the various ongoing dossiers.
Part of the discussion was devoted to Ukraine. On this subject, the competent ministers discussed, among other things, the various actions undertaken since the last ‘Transport’ Council in June. Several actions have been carried out since then, such as the ‘solidarity lanes’ or the agreement on the temporary liberalisation of certain road transport operations (see EUROPE 13051/33). Discussions were also held on other actions that could be undertaken.
The Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU also updated the other Member States on the state of play of the interinstitutional negotiations (‘trilogues’) on several dossiers, such as ‘RefuelEU Aviation’ (see EUROPE 13052/19), for which the next trilogue will take place on 15 December, and ‘AFIR’ (see EUROPE 13046/12), for which the next trilogue is scheduled for 15 December.
Finally, the future Swedish Presidency of the EU Council presented its work programme for the first half of 2023. The Belgian, French, Luxembourg, Portuguese and Dutch ministers also presented, during the day, a joint document on strengthening the sustainability and equity of the aviation sector.
