05/12/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 5 December, the European Commission adopted the strategic plans for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) presented by Belgium for an amount of more than €2.8 billion, €1.3 billion of which is for Flanders and €1.5 billion is for Wallonia. Of the total EU budget allocated to these two regions, more than €900 million will be spent on environmental and climate objectives and green programmes and €100 million will be allocated to young farmers. Flanders is allocated €185 million, more than half of its rural development budget, for environment- and climate-related objectives. Wallonia devotes 26% of its direct payments budget to environmental programmes and 56% of its rural development budget to environmental, climate and biodiversity interventions. (LC)
