European Parliament’s The Left group updates Secretariat-General

26/10/2022 (Agence Europe)The Bureau of The Left group in the European Parliament unanimously supported the appointment of a new Secretary General, Francisco Orozco Dopico, and three Deputy Secretaries General, Panayota Maniou (reappointed), Stelios Christodoulou (also reappointed) and Maj Aslett-Rydbjerg on Monday 24 October. Thus, Mr Orozco replaces Sanna Leppola and Ms Aslett-Rydbjerg becomes Deputy Secretary for the first time. Their mandates run until 2024 and the European elections. A decision on the appointment (or reappointment) of the future Secretary General and Deputy Secretaries General will then be taken by the radical left group in the European Parliament that will emerge from the next European elections. The European elections are due to take place in May 2024 and the constitution of political groups will take place before the constituent session of the European Parliament in July. (PH)
