12/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has launched a €50 million call for projects until mid-January 2023 to help cities build sustainable urban development. This appeal, funded under the European Urban Initiative of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), puts into practice the core values - aesthetics, sustainability, inclusion - of the New European Bauhaus, it said in a statement on Tuesday 11 October. The projects submitted should be related to four themes: - construction and renovation in a spirit of circular economy and carbon neutrality; - preservation and transformation of cultural heritage; - adaptation and conversion of buildings for affordable housing solutions; - regeneration of urban spaces. The ERDF will finance 80% of the cost of the selected projects. Each project can receive up to €5 million, part of which will support the transfer of innovative solutions to other European cities to increase their impact.
