06/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – MEPs adopted, on Thursday 6 October, a resolution on the trade and sustainable development chapters in trade agreements (‘TSD’ chapters). They support the Commission’s new approach presented in June (see EUROPE 12977/13), although they would like to go further on some points (see EUROPE 13036A9). They ask, for example, that the agreements soon to be submitted to the European Parliament for approval should be in line with this revised approach, meaning that they should contain sanctions in case of violation of the ‘TSD’ chapters by one of the parties.
