19/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 19 September, the European Commission announced an additional €111.5 million in aid for Germany, Slovakia and Bulgaria under the REACT-EU initiative. This package will be used to support the post-Covid-19 economy, employment, education and health care. In Germany, the federal states (“Länder”) of Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia will receive €4.6 million for digitalisation and €34 million for employment respectively. In Slovakia, €17.9 million will be used to directly support so-called ‘frontline’ workers during the pandemic. Finally, Bulgaria will benefit from €18.6 million to assist vulnerable people and €36.4 million to improve support services for people with disabilities and the labour market. €23.8 million of this amount will be spent on employment projects for refugees fleeing Ukraine.
